Teamster's Truck Drivers Union Local 407

Check back in early 2010 for the on-line scholarship application!

PURPOSE
To assist graduating high school seniors, who are sons and daughters of members of Teamster Union Local 407, and who meet specific criteria, finance their education.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Student applicants must be sons or daughters of a member in good standing of Teamsters Union Local 407.
  • Students who are eligible to apply are current high school graduates.
  • Students selected to receive awards for this scholarship must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 upon graduation from high school. To continue their scholarship award throughout the 2009-2010 academic year, students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours) enrollment status in a four-year accredited college or university, a two-year community college or a technical school.
  • Parent members of the Teamsters Union Local 407 must have one year of continuous membership in good standing with the local as of April 10, 2010.
  • Scholarships are non-renewable upon completion of 2010-2011 award year.

Factors that will be considered in selecting the winners

  • Those who have displayed academic achievement, leadership in voluntary community service and/or job/work record.
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant’s scholastic record and class standing, results of college admittance tests such as the ACT and SAT, recommendations from individuals familiar with the applicant, extracurricular activities, community service, or work experience.
  • Financial need will not be a consideration.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Teamsters Truck Drivers Union Local 407 will award one (1) $1,000 non-renewable scholarships for academic year 2010-2011. The first disbursement will be sent at the start of the fall semester. Subsequent disbursements will be made upon receipt of student’s college grade report and proof of enrollment.
