What is a college access program?

A college access program helps students, parents and schools navigate college financing, from start to finish, as quickly and easily as possible. It provides “access” to a postsecondary education by providing the tools to help students prepare for college and a career, obtain financial aid and succeed in college. How can I get a scholarship from CSP?

To be selected to receive a CSP scholarship, students must attend a high school serviced by a CSP advisor. This year, we are working with students on-site in 99 schools: 19 Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD) high schools; 20 inner-ring suburban, 12 parochial schools, 39 CSMD middle schools and 9 Lorain County schools. Scholarship winners are selected based on recommendations by their advisor, meeting CSP criteria for academic performance (high school grades and SAT/ACT test scores) and financial need.

CSP also provides scholarship opportunities to adult students (ages 19 and above) who are pursuing their first associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Applicants are required to meet the scholarship criteria for academic performance and financial need.

How does CSP benefit the Northeast Ohio community?

More than three quarters of our alumni live in Northeast Ohio, enriching the economic, social and cultural environment of our region. Across the state, only 72 percent of all college graduates remain in Ohio. Approximately 86 percent of our college freshmen are retained into their sophomore year, compared to 74 percent nationally and 75 percent in Ohio. They also command higher paychecks, adding to the region’s economic base.
